Hi! My name is Melissa and I have been self-employed since 2001. I started my professional career back in 1993 upon completing courses at a business school in Annapolis, Maryland.
My first position after graduation introduced me to the world of Trade Shows and Events. I would spend the next couple of years working as the Sales Admin, and learning as much as I could about the industry.
I would eventually leave to pursue other opportunities that brought me to Florida, where I would live for several years. Although I did move back to Maryland for a brief period, my career path would eventually bring me back to the state I loved.
In 1998 I was given an opportunity to work with a start-up Company in Baltimore, Maryland. This was a full-service General Service Contractor for the event industry. At the time of my hire, there we no systems in place so I was more than happy to delve right in to creating them.
This was a great learning experience for me. Not only did I learn and perfect everything on the back end, but I was able to have so much more interaction with Show Managers, Exhibitors, and Facilities. I absolutely loved the event business and it was apparent in all aspects of my work.
In 2001 I would make the leap to start my own business. This move brought me back to the great state of Florida, where I still reside today. I ran a successful Management Company for the Event business and subcontracted most everything as I had no desire to ever own the equipment.
With the gaining popularity of Social Media Marketing, I would eventually add this to my service list. I started training with Kim Garst in 2012 and am still actively involved in her ongoing training. I also completed iBloom’s Social Media Management course in 2014.
This new training would take my business into a new direction. The constant travel of being an Event Manager would eventually take its toll on me and I decided to make changes so that I could work from home. Offering Social Media Management services allowed me to do just that.
Although my event background makes me a perfect fit for providing SM services within the Event Industry, I am very passionate about helping small business owners take advantage of the strong marketing tool that social media has become. Trade Shows are seasonal and small business is ongoing, which enables me to make a living at something I am truly passionate about.
Outside of my business, I enjoy spending time with family and friends. I have two beautiful daughters, Meredith and Madison, a great husband, and am expecting the arrival of my second Grandson in early November. I am also the mother to two wonderful furbabies that are truly a part of the family, and they add a daily dose of warmth and laughter to our home.
In my spare time I like visiting some of the gorgeous beaches that Florida has to offer. I started golfing several years ago and have developed a true love and appreciation of the game. I moved to Orlando in 2001 but my heart still belongs to my favorite football team, The Baltimore Ravens! I’m in hot pursuit of obtaining genuine happiness in all aspects of my life, and am very excited about my personal and professional journey.
